GIVING BACK

We are very passionate about supporting women and children around the world to live a happier, healthier and safer life. We believe that every child should get an education and EMILIA OHRTMANN supports a school in Zimbabwe called Rufaro. The school was founded and built by a friend of Emilia's from Germany. It is a small organization and they ensure that all the funds go to the children and their school. Emilia has supported Rufaro for many years in her own personal capacity.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability EMILIA OHRTMANN

We are passionate about supporting and  caring for the planet we live. With every purchase you receive a free cotton shopping bag to reduce the use of plastic. The tissue paper as well as the stickers we use are all made in a sustainable way by the company Noissue. And our mailers are fully compostable.

Our garments are mainly produced and we only use organic cotton, natural fabrics as well as recycled materials that are better for our planet.

If we all do our small part,  we can all make an impact on the world together.

ORGANIC COTTON

Organic cotton is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards. Its production sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs. Importantly organic cotton farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Instead, it combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promotes a good quality of life for all involved. Organic cotton reduces your environmental footprint.

No toxic chemicals are used in the growing of organic cotton. It doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and uses 88% less water and 62% less energy. Conventional cotton uses about 16% of the world’s insecticides and 7% of pesticides.

In 2015, 26 million metric tonnes of cotton was produced globally, much of it for the apparel industry. Organic cotton makes up less than 1% of this. By choosing organic over conventional cotton you have the purchasing power to influence brands, manufacturers and even farmers. So let’s change this number.

GOTS CERTIFIED

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an internationally recognised organic textile standard. Since its introduction in 2006, GOTS has demonstrated its practical feasibility and is supported by the growth in consumption of organic fibres and the demand for a unified processing criteria from the industry and retail sectors.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic natural fibres. A textile product carrying the GOTS label grade ‘organic’ must contain a minimum of 95% certified organic fibres whereas a product with the label grade ‘made with organic’ must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic fibres.

VEGAN FABRICS AND VEGAN LEATHER

Emilia is a vegan herself and passionate about cruelty free fabrics. She decided to use only vegan fabrics and leather for her designs as it's ethical and sustainable. Our vegan leather still resembles the look and feel of traditional leather.

WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Caring for the world and the people we share it with is a life choice. We have chosen to support the world, our nature, animals and the people by taking small steps and producing ethical and sustainable clothing.

"Every stone thrown into the water creates a wave, even if it's a small stone and a small wave. But the more stones are thrown the bigger the waves are." That's what we believe in: every action and every step counts and brings us closer to our goal. Not only when we care for the plant and the people but also when we care for ourselves.
